Since I was raised on five different farms in Iowa, I have lots of memories connected to them. I have milked cows by hand in them, taken care of livestock in them, and played in them as a youngster. Also, all of my relatives had farms with barns. I have done work, such as chores and stacking hay in some barns for other farmers. Also, in my long career as a land surveyor in Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, and New Jersey, I have seen many barns. Now I like to photograph them, so have taken photos in several states that we have driven through. Many were taken in southeastern Pennsylvania in the Amish areas.
